"Square piano with æolian attachment", combination of square grand piano and a reed organ. There is one set of 77 reeds. "1854 Patent, D.H Shirley" stamped inside, on one key Three pedals.
The piano part of this instrument is a fairly typical American square grand of the late 1840''s. Compass is 6 and 1/3 octaves (FF to a4). Full cast-iron frame.
Similar examples are found in the Boston Mus of Fine Arts and the National Music Museum (SD).
