MASON & HAMLIN
ROS Reg No. 6461

Restored by owner in 2019. Organ was owned for many years by Madeleine Marshall (Simon), concert pianist and singing coach on the faculty of The Julliard School who taught English diction for over 50 years and wrote the well-regarded and widely studied bool "The Singer’s Manual of English Diction." Acquired from a grand niece. This instrument has a total of 257 reeds, and has both Full Organ and Swell knee levers in addition to the 14 draw-knob stops. The 16' Clarionet stop in the treble is particularly nice, and the Sub Bass is robust. The case is made of betula lenta, a strikingly figured type of birch stained deep red that is unusual in reed organ cabinetry and apparently unique to Mason & Hamlin.
