ESTEY ORGAN CO.
ROS Reg No. 6910

Was purchased at a garage/moving sale from David and Liz Furman in Nov. 2022 by the Friends of Staunton State Park, CO. It had been a 50th wedding anniversary for his mother, and she had played it. It appears identical to ROS #4728, except for the color of fabric behind fretwork. It is still playable, but has some leaks in bellows. To date, we have cleaned the reeds and made some tuning adjustments as needed on the rear reeds, and plan to do that to the front also. The A440 tuning was verified with a digital meter.
The plan is to put the organ on public display in the 1918 Staunton Homestead Cabin at the Park, where we have a photo of a reed organ in the cabin in the 1920 or 1930's. Frances Staunton, daughter of the homesteading pair of medical doctors, was an opera singer, who studied at Julliard School, and was coached by Jeanne Brola. We are sure that the organ was used for her opera practice. We hope that the cabin will be regularly open to the public in a year or two. We are building an Estey Model A bench to go with it.
