WM. DOHERTY & CO. pump organ (Clinton, Ont.), 1888. Style 140. Serial number is 8577. This organ has foot pedals which pump the bellows to supply air to produce the sound.
The organ has six octaves, making it a shortened keyboard (a regular one has 11 octaves).
It has swell boxes and knee pedals. There are eleven stops: Diapason Bass, Principal Bass, Bass coupler, Bass Dulciana, Vox humana, Dulciana treble, Diapason Forte, Treble coupler, Vox Celeste, Diapason treble. There are currently two brass candlestick holders on movable hinges. These are not original to the organ and were donated by Mrs. Charles Lowther. There are two side pillars going up to the bottom of the keyboard section.
The music stand has a carved, openwork [fretwork] leaf pattern. There are burled panels (to upper and three lower with beveled edges--appears to be mostly walnut wood). Folding cover for the keyboard has two sets of three hinges. The foot pedals are carpeted. A manufacturer's warranty label is present inside the back of the organ. A metal tuning key is nailed on the back of the organ with a strip of leather. 1960.15.2 is an organ stool that was historically used with this organ. Ivory and ebony keys.
